JAMMU, Feb 4: A Women Police Investigation Cell was inaugurated in the premises of Police Station Ramban, here today.
The cell was inaugurated by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Randeep Kumar in the presence of Additional Super-intendent of Police, Ramban Mushtaq Choudhary, DySP Headqusrters Ramban Moham-mad Rafiq Choudhary and prominent citizens.
While speaking on the occasion, SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar said the women cell would look after all cases related with the women folks under the supervision of senior police officers which were earlier forwarded to Women Cell Udhampur.
He stressed upon the women to come forward and seek redresal of their grievances in their home district. He said that a special women help line will be installed in coming days and a wide publicity is being given in the district regarding opening of this cell and its functioning.
“A fully dedicated staff of female police officials would receive their problems and a patient hearing will be given to them” SSP added.
Locals described the opening of this cell as a great step for criminal justice system especially women related. They said earlier due to lack of women cell, many women inspite of having genuine grievances used to avoid reporting, but with the opening of this cell, they can now fight for their justice.
