JAMMU, Feb 4: Urging upon the Government to resolve the demands of contractual employees working under MG NREGA on different categories of posts like, Grameen Rozgar Sewaks (GRS), Technical Assistants, Computer operators and Program Officers, senior CPI(M) leader and MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said that these employees working under this flagship programme are protesting from long time demanding regularization of their services and enhancement of their wages.
In a statement issued here today, Tarigami said that their demand for regularization being quite genuine and justified, should be fulfilled at the earliest. “These employees were recruited as per merit and that too, in a transparent manner on the basis of higher qualification and are doing their job since years on meager salary,” he added.
“Govt has no clear cut job policy for these employees due to which future of hundreds of qualified youths is at stake. Most of these employees have crossed the overage limit fixed for a Government job”, he said.
The CPI(M) leader demanded that these employees be paid the remuneration on the pattern of Tripura Government which is substantially higher than those working in J&K State.
