2 killed, one injured in road accidents

KATHUA, Feb 4: Two persons died while one was injured in two separate road accidents in Kathua district since late last night.
According to police, two motor cyclists from Punjab who were on a bike were hit by a truck at Lakhanpur late last night resulting into injury to both of them. The truck fled after accident taking the advantage of darkness, police added.
The two youth were lying on the road in a pool of blood. Later a police party of Lakhanpur shifted them to DH Kathua where doctors declared one of them as brought dead.
He has been identified as Ashwani Kumar, S/O Bodh Raj of Gurdaspur Punjab while his accomplice Jeet Raj was injured and he is undergoing treatment in DH Kathua. The dead body of Ashwani has been handed over to his family after Postmortem by Kathua Police and a case under Section 304 of RPC has been registered in PS Lakhanpur in this regard.
In another accident near Women College Kathua a 84 year old cyclist was hit by a motorcyclist this morning. The cyclist received serious injuries and he was shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
He has been identified as Basant Raj of Ward 4 Kathua. The Motorcyclist fled after accident. The Kathua Police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law in this regard.
