Union Ministry approves opening of KVK at Samba

SRINAGAR, Oct 20: Vice Chancellor of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology -Jammu (SKUAST-J), has informed Governor N.N. Vohra, Chancellor of the University that the Union Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Minister, has approved the ICAR’s recommendation for opening a new Krishi Vigyan Kendra in district Samba under the administrative control of SKUAST-J.
The VC has informed that KVK Samba will function from the Advanced Centre for Rainfed Agriculture, Dhiansar, till such time as the required piece of land becomes available.
A Raj Bhavan Spokesperson informed that the urgent acquisition of land for KVK Samba was being watched by Governor who is anxious to see very early full functioning of KVK to ensure effective transfer of new agriculture technologies to the farmers of the area.
