State Chess Championship gets underway

JAMMU, Jan 6: J&K State Chess Championship, being organized by All J&K Chess Association and sponsored by J&K State Sports Council got underway at Nek Hotel, here today.
103 players from different districts of J&K State are participating in this event which is being organized as per FIDE laws of chess in all the age categories of senior, under-19, under-17, under-15, u-13, u-11, u-9, u-7 in both boys and girls sections.
Haji Abdul Qayoom, Chief Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council was chief guest on the occasion while Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu was the guest of honour.
CSO appreciated the efforts of AJKCA for organizing lot of quality events in the state.
While speaking on the occasion, Atul Kumar Gupta, President of All J&K Chess Association said that Association will continue to hold big events to give best possible platform to J&K youth.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Arshid Ahmad Kolu, Secretary AJKCA, AR Wani, Sr Vice President, Baldev Raj and Taranvir Singh Gujral, Vice Presidents, Dr AS Bhatia, Advisor, Khalid Amin Treasurer, Ashiq Ahmad and Raj Kumar and Faisal Farooq Joint Secretaries.
DySP Raj Kumar is the chief organizer, while Vivek Bharti Gupta, Anil Kotwal and AR Wani are Arbiters for the event.
