Contractual Lecturers’ hunger strike enters 65th day

JAMMU, Apr 19: The ongoing hunger strike by Contractual Lecturers (10+2), who are demanding their regularization, entered 65th consecutive day here, today.
Sangeeta Sambyal, Tripta Sharma, Pankaj Sharma and Amrit Paul began their chain hunger strike this morning for the next 24 hours.
Shouting slogans against the Government, the protesting Contractual Lecturers also held a demonstration near the Press Club and reiterated their resolve to continue the ongoing hunger strike till their demand is conceded.
These Contractual Lecturers are demanding their regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a policy framed for the Regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/Consolidated employees after rendering seven years of services.
The protesting Contractual Lecturers strongly condemned Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary Education Department and alleged that he was unnecessarily trying to misguide the concerned Minister over their demand.
While addressing the gathering, Contractual Lecturer Balvinder Kour threatened to gherao Shaleen Kabra and force him to visit the protesting Lecturers near Press Club. “Enough is enough and we will not tolerate any more harassment to the aggrieved fraternity,” she said.
Another Contractual Lecturer Kanchan Bala, who also addressed the gathering, lamented that the Director of School Education Jammu, despite being a female, never bothered to know about the condition of female Contractual Lecturers who are on hunger strike for the last 65 days.
Arun Bakshi, president of Contractual Lecturers (10 plus 2) Association and Jeevan Kumar, general secretary, also addressed the protest demonstration.  They threatened to further intensify the ongoing struggle if their demand is not conceded.
