Youth need to be guided properly : DGP

SRINAGAR, Sept 15: Stressing upon the young artists to avail the opportunities provided by Jammu and Kashmir Police to excel in the field of art, the Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad has said that the Organisation has been conducting various activities under its Civic Action Programme to cultivate talent among the youth of the State. He said that such events are conducted with the aim to provide a platform for the reputed artists to share their experiences with the budding artists of the State and hone their talent.
Mr. Prasad was speaking at the inaugural function of the 8-day Painters Workshop, being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police at Officers’ mess Humhama. Nine artists with national fame are participating in the workshop, besides 7 artists from the State. Artists of national repute from different parts of the country participating in the 8-day long camp are Yousuf from Bhopal, Milan Dass from Patna, Sajal from Broda, Vidya Sagar Uladlaya from Jaipur, Rajan Fulari from Goa, Sangeeta Murthy from Gurgoan, Rathindranath Kanji from Kolkatta and Huim Rajni, Shridhar Iyer from New Delhi.
Similarly, the state level artists participating in the workshop include Javed Iqbal, Mohammad Yousuf Bacha, Masarat Mehboob, Rakesh Kumar, Madasir Gull, Arshad Hussain and K. K. Gandhi.
After inaugurating the workshop at Police Auditorium, PHQ here this evening, the DGP said that such workshops are aimed at to provide an opportunity to the youth of the State to witness the performance of artists of national fame and utilize their bubbling energies for their betterment. He said that the camp will motivate youth to come forward and excel in the field of art.
While interacting with the participating artists, Mr. Prasad  said that art provides an opportunity to share experiences with each other and know about the culture of the different regions of the country. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has been carrying out different cultural activities to promote art and culture among the youth. He said that paintings made by the artists during the workshop would serve sweet memories for the department in future and these paintings would be displayed in different functions of the organization.
The DGP said that the “men in khaki” are the part of the society and they also have a human heart and feeling in their body for the progress of the State. The youth have to play a significant role in nation building and need to be guided properly and encourage for ensuring a bright future for them. He said that people from all walks of life have to play their role in confidence building among the youth.
Earlier, while apprising the gathering about the activities under taken by JKP under its Civic Action Programme, the Additional Director General of Police, Armed/Law & Order, K. Rajendra Kumar, disclosed that the workshop would conclude on 21st  September 2012.  He appealed the people in general and art lovers in particular to witness the workshop and attend the concluding function.
Among others, the function was attended by ADGP,  S. P. Vaid, IGPs,  V. K. Singh,  S. M. Sahai,  A. K. Choudhary,  Rauf-ul-Hassan,  Abdul Ghani,  M.Sulaiman Salaria,  Sunil Kumar Sharma, Dr. K. K. Saini,  Yoginder Koul and   Alok Puri, DIsGP,  A. S. Bali,  N. D. Wani,  A.K. Atri,  R. P. Resutra, Syed Ahfadul Mujtaba,  Abdul Hamid,  Mushtaq M. Sadiq, AIGPs (PHQ),  G. H. Bhat,  A. A. Kakroo and  Shabir Ahmed, Commandants of Armed/IRP battalions and other police officers.
