World AIDS Day observed

JAMMU, Dec 1: World AIDS Day was observed across State.
NSS Unit of Dogra College of Education organized a slogan writing competition on the occasion of World AIDS Day on the theme “AIDS-Myth or Reality”. The programme was held under the supervision of Nishu Saproo, NSS Programme Officer. Speaking on the occasion Dr Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal, Dogra College of Education addressed his concern over the fact that even among the educated masses, there is ignorance about HIV. In this competition, 40 teacher trainees took part in the event.  Neha Devi, Archana Kumari and Reena Bala were adjudged first, second and third respectively while Pratibha Choudhary was given the consolation prize. The judges of the event were Vintee Kumari, Gopika Sharma and Tina Sharma. On the occasion, Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust, Sharat Chander Khajuria, Director Administration and Campus Development, Dogra Educational Trust, Shefali Sharma, Academic Coordinator, Dogra College of Education and other staff members of the College were present.
World AIDS Day was celebrated in District Hospital Udhampur. A rally was organised by ANMT students and students of other nursing schools, which was flagged off by Dr Vijay Basnotra, MS DHU along with Dr Vijay Raina Deputy MS, Dr Arun Mahajan, Dr Omkar Bhagat, Physcians and other staff members. The main aim of rally was to aware the people about AIDS, its concepts and myths. A lecture was also delivered by MS and Dy MS DHU.
Like other part of the country, World AIDS Day was observed in Leh district on the theme “Increasing impact through Transparency, Account-ability and Partnership”. The main function was held at conference hall CMO Office Leh where an awareness programme was organized for Para-Medicos. The programme was also observed at every block headquarter of district. District Immunization Officer Leh Dr Nurzin Angmo and Block Medical Officer Dr Mohd Iqbal, FMPHWs, paramedics trainees of AMT School SNM Hospital Leh were also present on the occasion. District Health Officer Dr Tashi Namgail Leh, Physician Specialist SNM Hospital Leh Dr Tashi Thinless, CMO Dr Yangchan Dolma and Counsellor Stanzin Dolma addressed the participants.
