Veteran VHP leader Dr Dubey passes away

JAMMU, May 29: Veteran social activist, chief patron State VHP and founder member of Buda Amarnath, Baba Amarnath Yatri Niwas,  (BABAYN), Dr Ramakant Dubey breath his last after illness at PGI Chandigarh this morning.
He was 81. He is survived by his wife Champa Devi, two sons and a daughter. The VHP leader was indisposed for over a month and he was taken to Narayana Hospital Katra by his family for treatment where from later he was shifted to PGI Chandigarh as his condition deteriorated.
Born on April 15, 1936, Dr Dubey after his graduation qualified RMP course in Ayurveda and worked as a medical practitioner.
His cremation will take place tomorrow at Jogi Gate Cremation Ground at 11 am. A staunch RSS ideologue Rama Kant Dubey had joined the organization from his childhood and worked actively in Praja Parishad and other movements in Jammu. A soft spokesman Dr Dubey never compromised with his ideology and always championed the national cause in the State.
Before he breathed his last, Dr Dubey had donated his eyes at Chandigarh.
He was appointed as RSS Jammu Sambagh Pracharak at an early age and worked on this post for three years. Later he was shifted to VHP and remained the president of State VHP unit for 13 long years. Three years prior he quit the post due to his old age and was appointed as the chief patron of the organization.
People from all walks of life mourned his demise. Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh while expressing his shock and grief over the demise of Dr Dubey termed him a veteran social activist, a philanthropist and a great patriot who championed for national cause in the State and worked till his last breath to strengthen nationalist forces.
He said Dr Dubey’s demise has created a big void which can’t be filled up soon.
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh while condoling the demise of VHP leader termed his demise a great loss not only for the State but entire country. He recalled the contribution of Dr Dubey in strengthening the nationalist forces in the State especially in organizing holy Amarnath and Buda Amarnath yatra during the turmoil in the State.
BJP State president Sat Sharma, VHP president Leela Karan Sharma, SDS leaders, BABAYN chief, Surinder  Mohan Aggarwal, VHP vice president, Prabhu Dayal Gupta, general secretary, Shakti Dutt Sharma, SDS leaders as well as heads of various, political, social and religious bodies have expressed profound shock over his demise.
