Teachers chain hunger strike enters 23rd day

JAMMU, Sept 21: The indefinite chain hunger strike of Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (TJAC) here today, demanding benefits of 7th Pay Commission, entered 23rd day.
A large number of teachers under the leadership of Vinod Sharma, Sukhdev Singh, Rajesh Jamwal and Sajad Malik today staged a sit-in protest demonstration and raised slogans against alleged callous and step-motherly treatment by the government towards 41,000 ReT teachers and masters who have been deprived of 7th Pay Commission benefits and their salaries have not been linked with the state budget forcing them to come on roads.
The teachers who sat on 24 hour fast today included Rashpal Singh, Gulzar Ahmed, Muzattir Hussain, Babu Ram, Om Singh, Kewal Singh, Din Mohd, Mohd Sultan, Mohd Ramjan, Masood Hussain, Shabir Ahmed, Ashraf Natnoo, Ashiq Dar, Narinder Singh, Partap Singh, Speel Singh, Swami Raj and Anaytullah.
Meanwhile, same protest entered day 19 in Srinagar.
