JAMMU, Oct 24: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Ch Sukhnandan, today laid foundation stone of submersible causeway at Chak Jaffar.
The causeway having a span of 13m will be constructed under the State plan at an estimated cost of Rs 21 lakh. It will benefit large population of Chak Jaffar, Mishriwala and Jaswan Paryal and help reduce distance between Chak Jaffar and Pakhian by 4 km approximately.
The Minister directed Executive Engineer PWD(R&B), Rajan Mengi to ensure black-topping of Chak Jaffar-Pakhian road and instructed him to start construction work on the culvert at Qazi Thokrian to Chak Jaffar.
While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that three procurement centres have been opened up at Chano Chak, Soujhajana and Gajansoo Marh.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to take adequate steps to redress public issues and ensure that the developmental works are completed in the stipulated time.
He also directed Executive Engineer PHE, Vijay Gupta to ensure clean drinking water supply to Chak Jaffar. He stressed on ensuring proper monitoring to check pilferages in water supply so as to prevent water contamination and to allow supply of clean portable water to the general public.
