AKHNOOR, Nov 22: Cautioning BJP not to sabotage Jammu cause, PHE Minister and Congress candidate from Akhnoor, Sham Lal Sharma today said that Congress as guardian of secular faith acts as bridge between different regions as well as districts and has always worked with sole agenda of strengthening communal harmony.
Addressing public rally at Maira Mandrian in Akhnoor today, Sham Lal asked the people to adjudge his last ten years performance. He said that people are themselves witness to the massive development in the Chenab belt of this constituency where new bridge and good road up to Katra Mata Vaishnodevi has come up recently. He claimed that with his efforts Maira Mandriyan was accorded Tehsil status and he would strive for developing tourism infrastructure in the constituency.
Seeking people’s support on the basis of his performance during the previous two stints, senior Congress leader reiterated his commitment to further accelerate the tempo of development in the Akhnoor to make it a model constituency in the State
The Minister said that during the past two tenures being representative of Akhnoor he served the people with missionary zeal and did whatever possible for the welfare and prosperity of this area and the people.
He said “people are witness to the fact that I spent maximum time in the constituency to address the day-to-day problems of the people. I immediately responded to the problems of the people and tried to provide improved basic facilities like drinking water, electricity, road connectivity, education and medicare to every nook and corner of the constituency. These are the main functions of the MLA, which I have performed with best of my capability and ability”, said Mr Sham
Highlighting the credentials of the Congress party, the minister said that there is no alternative to this historical and oldest party in the country as the party has proved its strength and capabilities since independence. With the sincere and dedicated efforts of the party the entire picture of the nation has been transformed during the past over five decades. It is very easy to criticize those who are in helm of affairs, but practically difficult to show results in a country like India. He asked the people to further strengthen the hands of Congress party and bring it to power exclusively in the State to ensure all round development of all three regions.
