JAMMU, Oct 4: The operation “flush out” launched by the Jammu Development Authority to drive out unauthorized occupants of JDA land at ISBT and Transport Nagar, Narwal has gained more momentum with lifting of illegal khokhas, Reharies and vehicles from the Transport Nagar by a team of JDA officials, today.
It is pertinent to mention that the anti encroachment drive has been supplemented by the “Swacthh Bharat Mission” and all the scrap and unserviceable vehicles is being removed with the assistance of the local shopkeeper’s association to maintain the area clean and pollution free.
The team was led by Rajesh Kumar Shavan, Vice Chairman, JDA, who himself supervised the entire operation. In a statement, he said that JDA does not know the credentials of persons occupying its property in the garb of khokhas, reharies and materials and the scrap dumped is creating nuisance and creating unhygienic conditions.
“The JDA has initiated the drive to achieve twin objectives viz cleanliness and driving out of unauthorised occupants and the operation has been named as “Operation Flush Out” which is aimed to provide good look to the entire premises of Transport Nagar”, he added. He said that the drive was started on September 22 and it will continue till the entire complex is cleared from the encroachments.
Meanwhile JDA has started the process of identifying rent defaulters also and the axe is likely to fall on big wigs. One famous restaurant Smokin Joe which owed more than Rs 50 lakh has been sealed by JDA at Bahu Plaza and the recovery proceedings have been launched under the Land Revenue Act.
