JAMMU, Sept 17: Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Secretary, University Grants Commission, made a maiden visit to the University of Jammu and held interactions with the Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar as well as with the Deans of various faculties, senior officers and members of JUTA.
The Vice Chancellor apprised the Secretary about various initiatives taken by the University in the last two to three years. He informed that University has successfully implemented semester system at Under Graduate Level and Choice Based Credit System at Post Graduation Level from the current academic session. Further, various programs approved by the UGC like Special Assistance Programme (SAP) and innovative programs have been initiated in the University. Besides, the achievements of the faculty and students were also highlighted.
Secretary UGC said that there was no dearth of resources and the faculty should come forward and apply for various schemes/ programs offered by the UGC.
The members of the JUTA also held interaction with Secretary and apprised him about the various issues being faced by the teaching fraternity.
The Secretary gave a patient hearing to all their issues and assured to consider these appropriately.
Prof Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Posh Charak, Dean Research Studies, Prof Manoj K Dhar, Registrar, Prof Keshav Sharma, Controller of Examination, Deans of various faculties and Jai Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to VC were among those who interacted with the UGC Secretary.
