Sahiban Saftami celebrated with fervor

JAMMU, Jan 7: The annual Magh Saftami (Sahiban Saftami) was celebrated with traditional religious fervor and gaiety here today.
In this connection the religious functions were held at the Mata Roop Bhawani temples at Tirath Nagar Talab Tillo and Sharda Colony, Patoli Brahmana in which a large number of devotees participated.
At both the temples hawans  were performed. At Tirath Nagar temple the hawan was performed under the auspices of Shri Alakh Sahiban Trust (Regd.). The Yagya as usual started at midnight on 6th of January 2018 and Puran Ahuti was offered this afternoon amidst chanting of Vedic Mantras and Mata Shree Roop Bhawani’s Rehasya Updesha Shalokas. All through the solemnisation, the whole complex & around resounded with the chanting of hymns with a view to invoking the grace of the divine Mother.
The Devi’s Prasad was served after Puran Ahuti. At Sharda Colony temple the hawan started yesterday and it concluded with Puran Ahuti this afternoon followed by serving of Prashad to devotees. The hawan was performed by Mandir Committee headed by Avtar Krishan Dhar in collaboration with local committee members of the area.
A large number of devotees thronged the temple to pay obeisance to Mata Roop Bhawani.  Bhajan Kirtan was held throughout the day. On the occasion two resolutions were passed by the religious gathering which were proposed by Dr Ramesh Bhat. One was pertaining to passage of Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill and second that Pooja-Padthi at holy Amarnath cave be restored as per the traditional Shaivic philosophy of Kashmir.
The BJP MLC Girdhari Lal Raina (Ajay Bharti) was also present on the occasion.
