Rather for bringing all picnic spots of Kokernag on tourism map

JAMMU, Nov 23: MLA Kokernag, Abdul Rahim Rather has demanded bringing of various picnic spots of Kokernag tehsil on tourism map.
In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Rather said that Kokernag tehsil has vast potential for tourism and the area has a good road connectivity which will prove to be helpful for the visitors who would like to visit the tourist spots of Kokernag.
He, while stressing on development of Hill Park Kokernag on the pattern of Mughal Garders using the lifted water from the nearby stream, said that after the development of this area, Kokernag garden will be the biggest garden of the State.
He said the Kokernag has the great potential to provide an alternate destination for the tourists other than Pahalgam and Gulmarg.
Stressing on development of more tourist spots and pilgrimage tourism centers in the tehsil, he demanded immediate attention be paid to tourist spots like Margan, Lehanwan, Choharnag, Madwa-Wadwan, Pannard, Guridraman, Marther, Harkhandi, Sinthan Top, Phamber, Girsar Lake, Phatan, Poshbagh, Mawarnag, Bekhan Dandipora,  etc and bringing them on tourist map.
Rather said in addition to this there is a very great scope for pilgrimage tourism by developing the Satreshi and Shiva Bhagwati Shrines at Akingam, Doda Nag and Domtabal shrine at Watnard and adjacent shrine of Syed Amanullah, Bata Nagin at Sundbrari an ancient religious place, Ziarat of Baba Dawoode Gohni at Gohan, Ziarat of Sheikh-ul -Alam at Soaf  etc.
Rather turned the attention of Chief Minister  towards the Wild Life Sanctuary at Daksum, fisheries farm at Kokernag, Sheep Farm at Daksum and demanded construction of Bus Stand at Kokernag, establishing of Golf Course at Marther, Harkhandi or any other suitable place, development of Tashan Spring, installation of street lights at tourist places, sanctioning guest house scheme for Kokernag on the pattern of Pahalgam, construction of passenger sheds at Kokernag and vacating of tourism land which is under the occupation of security forces.
