JAMMU, Jan 6: Latest poetry collection of noted Kashmiri poetess Sunita Raina Pandit ‘Call of Silence’ was released today here at an impressive function organized by Women Wing of Samooh Theatre ,Jammu with the support of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
The book release function was held here at K L Saigal Hall of Cultural Academy complex while Khurshid Ahmed Ganai State Information Commissioner presided over it and Dr. Aziz Hazini , Secretary Cultural Academy was the chief guest on the occasion.
The critical appreciation on the book namely the call of Silence presented by noted Broadcaster K K Lidhu.
Ganai in his presidential address said there is need to arrange literature festival exclusively for the writers of Kashmiri languages.
He also laid stress on facilitation of all writers of Kashmiri Pandit community so as to inspire to new generation .
Dr.Aziz Hajini ,in his address said that tradition of writing poetry in the Kashmiri started by Lal Ded some 700 years before and lady like Sunita Pandit are carrying forward this tradition efficiently.
He also expressed his concern over running away of young generation from local ethos and culture.
Sunita Raina also recited her poems on this occasion which were highly appreciated by the gathering .
Earlier ,Anita Raina Chandpuri president Women Wing of Samooh Theatre welcomed the guests and also congratulated to Sunita Raina Pandit on the occasion of releasing her collection of poetry.
While Avtar Krishan Hugami and Anita Chandpuri also shared the presidium,
Zameer Answari conducted the proceedings of the event while Sunita Raina presented vote of thanks.
Among others MLC Ajay Bharti , Bashir Bhaderwahi , Brij Nath Betab , Prem Nath Shad , Makhan Lal Saraf , M H Zaffar , Aiyash Aarif , . Shabir Mujhid , Santosh Nadaan, besides scholars and writers and members of the Kashmiri community were present.
