People belonging to reserved categories hold rally at Samba

SAMBA, Sept 24: A possible clash between the people of various communities was averted with the timely intervention of Samba police during a rally which was held here, today by the people belonging to reserved categories.
According to Police during the rally some speakers made provocative speech against the other castes due to which the situation took a critical turn and tampers ran high as the people from other castes had also gathered in the town to take on the rallyists. However with the timely intervention of the Police led by SSP Samba, Joginder Singh a possible clash was averted.
Later Samba Police on the basis of a written complaint made by Rajput Sabha president Capt (retd) Inder Singh, president Brahman Sabha, Ravi Khajuria and president Mahajan Sabha S K Pradhan  registered a FIR and started investigation.
Earlier demanding Constitutional rights for down-trodden people of the State a Maha Rally was held in the town, today by various socio-religious organizations.
The rally was attended by a cross section of people including panches, sarpanches, social activists, retired employees forums and it was rendered logistical support by Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Employees Association (JKRCEA).
All the religious heads of SC/ST/OBC communities of the State condemned the state governments luke warm response in defending their position on the issue of reservation in promotions. The government was urged to implement the stay order of Apex Court of India in this regard and carry on with the promotion process in different departments as per Reservation Act & SRO-294.
Taking into consideration all the aspects of reservation, an appeal was made to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene into this very sensitive and serious matter and advise Chief Secretary to implement the Apex Court’s stay order.
The Chief Minister was also requested to immediately call meeting of Enforcement Board on Monitoring & Implementation of Reservation in J&K in her capacity as Chairman of the Board.
Bodh Raj Bhagat senior vice president All India Bhagat Mahasabha, Sham Lal Bassan, president Dalit Chetan Manch, Manoj Kumar Verma representing Backward Classes Union, Dhayan Chand Ex-MLA, Joginder Kumar from Nabha Dass Sabha and Yash Paul Kundal ex-Minister also addressed the rally. Later a procession was also taken in the town.
