JAMMU, Feb 6: A legislator of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former Minister today displayed a banner in the Legislative Assembly to seek rehabilitation of the people affected by the closure of the toll post at Lower Munda along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
In an order issued yesterday, the Government has abolished toll post at Lower Munda in Qazigund area of south Kashmir.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, PDP MLA and former Minister Farooq Andrabi raised a banner and moved towards the Well of the House to vociferously raise the issue of people affected due to closure of toll post at Lower Munda.
The Government faced embarrassment as some Opposition MLAs too stood up in the support of PDP MLA.
“Over 500 people including 200 shopkeepers who were earning their livelihood were rendered jobless by the decision and the Government should take necessary measures for their rehabilitation”, Andrabi said.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri assured the PDP MLA that the Government would look into it.
