PCC seeks compensation for farmers as per LAA

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Dec 27: Demanding  adequate compensation to the farmers, whose land is being acquired by the Government for construction of Ring Road, PCC president  Ghulam Ahmed Mir has said that Government should pay  at least four times more compensation as has been fixed for their land or actual cost of the land.
In a press statement here, Mir said that in the interest of poor and small farmers,  Congress led UPA-II Government had enacted Land Acquisition Act (LAA)-  2013, in order to save the aggrieved farmers from evicting them from their land by paying meagre amount of compensation.  But it is unfortunate that State Government is offering them  meagre amount of Rs 78000 to Rs 3.20 lakh per kanal which is too, less from the actual market rate.
PCC chief demanded that Government should pay compensation to farmers as per the spirit of Land Acquisition Act 2013 in the larger interest of public in general and farmers in particular.
