One killed, 25 pilgrims injured

JAMMU, July 28: Three trucks collided tonight at Diani, about five kilometers from Samba on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway killing one person and injuring 25 pilgrims of Mata Vaishno Devi ji shrine.
Reports said conductor of truck No. 2054 RJ23G was changing punctured tyre of the truck at Diani when another rashly driven truck No. 7501 RJ07G hit it from behind. Yet another truck carrying the pilgrims of Mata Vaishno Devi ji shrine from village Mareen in Kathua district, which was returning from Katra to Mareen, hit the trucks from behind leading to collision of three trucks.
Deputy Commissioner, Samba Mubarak Singh and SSP Samba Anil Magotra along with police teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to hospital.
Reports said conductor of the first truck, who was changing the tyre, was killed on spot while 25 pilgrims of Mata Vaishno Devi ji shrine, who were in the third truck, were injured.
Police shifted all 25 injured to District Hospital, Samba from where 15 persons, whose condition was stated to be serious, were referred to Government Medical College, Jammu. Rest of the injured were being treated in the DH Samba.
