Odisha Guv urged to request President, PM for rehabilitation of Kashmir pandits

BHUBANESHWAR, Aug 6: A delegation of Panun Kashmir, Bharat Raksha Manch and Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti today appealed to Odisha Governor S C Jamir to request the President and the Prime Minister for the rehabilitation of  Kashmir Hindus in Kashmir.

The memorandum was submitted to the  Governor, two days prior to the conference on ”Ek Bharat  Abhiyan-Kashimr Ki Aur’, The Eevent is a nationwide initiative by around 160 nationalists and Hindu organisations,  to be held here on August 8 and 9, supporting the return and rehabilitation demands of Kashmir Hindus.

The memorandum said Panun Kashmir represents more than seven lakh displaced Kashmiri Hindus who are living as refugees in their own country, for the last 24 years. Kashmiri Pandits became the victims of Jehadi terrorism in 1990. Today, most of the countrymen express ignorance about the national catastrophe that struck this country in 1990, it added.

Kashmir is now perceived only as a trouble spot, perpetuated by the inimical forces across the  border. While this may be true, but in the process, the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus has become a forgotten chapter, the memorandum stated.

The religious cleansing of Kashmiri Hindus and their mass exodus challenges the secular democratic structures of the country, the memorandum further said, adding that the continued  displacement of Kashmir Pandits represents the greatest constitutional failure of successive Governments at both centre as well as the State.

The memorandum appealed to the Governor to understand the issue of Kashmir and Kashmiri  Pandits and convey this to the President and Prime Minister, for their safe return and rehabilitation in  Kashmir. (UNI)
