LEH, Aug 6: As a prelude to the 70th Independence Day celebration, an exhibition “Horse Polo” match was played between ‘Red’ and ‘Blue’ team of Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC) at Civil Polo Ground, here.
The match was organized under the aegis of ‘Fire & Fury Corps’ and was witnessed by a large number of local spectators and military personnel who cheered the teams which played the match in two “Chukkers” (halves).
Both the teams displayed exceptional horse riding skills and stick work during the polo match.
A demonstration of ‘Tent Pegging’ was also displayed by the LSRC riders for the people of Ladakh.
The exhibition match was conducted to foster the nationalist spirit amongst the masses to ensure populace remains an integral part of the national mainstream.
Horse Polo in Ladakh is a very popular sport and played in many place besides Leh, especially in Drass and Chushot.
A band display along with weapon display will be conducted by Army on August 15 at the civil polo ground for the public.
The Independence Day Celebration is an occasion when the Army further strengthen its connection with the people of Ladakh through the conduct of patriotic events showing “Indian Army” and its commitment to the people of nation.
