JAMMU, Nov 2: National Students Union of India (NSUI) has accused the Jammu University administration of muzzling the voice of students and resorting to oppressive measures against those who question the disparity.
Talking to media persons, here today, NSUI State general secretary Avijot Singh listed instances in support of his allegations and explained how the university administration was curbing the voice of students by using administrative powers.
“It is very unfortunate that Dean Students Welfare of Jammu University, instead of addressing the grievances of students, has issued explanation notice to those who raised voice against autocratic decisions of the university,” he said and asked whether highlighting injustice amounts to any fault or illegal activity?
While elaborating, the NSUI leader said that he had raised voice against separate traffic routes on the campus. “As a student activist,   I prefer shortest route for students because their classes are more important then VC’s comfort zone. I know the protocol of Vice Chancellor but the JU Traffic Committee must take into notice the hardship of students at the same time and adopt same rule for all,” he explained.
The NSUI leader further said that if raising voice against inequality was his fault, he would do the same again and again until justice prevails.
The student leader also appealed the Chief Minister and Governor to take cognizance of such issues and grievances of the students, who were being subjected to humiliation by the Vice-Chancellor.
Sunny Parihar, Nishant Gupta and Vikas Badoria were also present in the press conference.
