JAMMU, Nov 2: A woman today allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at her residence in Jourian area of Akhnoor.
According to a police official, Mamta (22) daughter of Bachan Lal, resident of Matoo (Jourian) consumed some poisonous substance at her residence, this afternoon. The family members immediately took her to nearby Government Hospital in Jourian, but doctors there referred her to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she expired after some time.
“After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites”, the official said, adding the deceased was earlier a Special Police Officer (SPO) of J&K police but she had reportedly resigned from the service about a year back.
The concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter.
