JAMMU, Feb 3: The Congress leaders, activists and border residents held a strong protest demonstration at Suchetgarh in R.S.Pura sector of Jammu district against the Government.
The protesters raised slogans against Pakistan and for the worst ceasefire violations on the borders and LoC and accused Narendra Modi led BJP Government for following a weak policy to deal with Pakistan as a result there is record number of ceasefire violations on borders leading to increased toll of civilians and soldiers left martyred.
PCC president GA Mir led the protest and senior leaders Sham Lal Sharma, Raman Bhalla, Madan Lal Sharma, RS Chib, S Manjit Singh, Ch Gharu Ram, Prof Gharu Ram Bhagat, Pranav Shagotra (PYC), Pawan Raina, Ch Mohan Singh, Sukhdev Singh and several other prominent leaders of the area accompanied.
Addressing gathering PCC chief lashed out at Modi Government for its total failure to deal with the situations all along borders and LoC. He said that Modi used to raise questions on the issue of some rare incidents on the borders with Pakistan but now when this has become a routine affair and the people all along borders are suffering a lot besides large number of jawans martyred, he should explain BJP Government’s policy and road map to deal with the situation.
Mir said the approach of the both coalition partners (PDP-BJP) is totally contradictory on all sensitive issues, but despite that they want to remain in power at the cost of overall interests and wishes of the people of State and they can go to any extent to remain in power.
On Panchayat elections, Mir said that Congress never shirked from any electoral exercise and always favoured for strengthening democratic institutions. The present coalition has weakened Panchayats a retrograde amendment on the strength of majority.
Sham Lal Sharma lashed out at the PDP-BJP Govt in the State for its failure on all fronts and vitiating the atmosphere of peace and harmony in the State due to their wrong policies. He said that the Modi Govt at the Centre has failed to fulfill a single commitment with the people and has brought miseries for the common man due to unprecedented price hike in the country.
Raman Bhalla said that the worsening situation on the border and LoC has arisen, which is a cause of serious concern. The hollowness of policies of present government on this front which is evident from the facts that more and more cease fire violations have taken place during the past three and half years, since the Modi government taken over. He accused BJP of following a weak policy towards Pakistan.
Madan Lal Sharma (Ex-MP), RS Chib. Manjit Singh, Ch Gharu Ram and Prof Gharu Ram Bhagat also spoke on the occasion. They demanded compensation for the firing victims to the tune of Rs 20 lakh for those who lost their lives, Rs 10 lakh to permanent disable persons and Rs 5 lakh for injured. They also demanded 5 marla plots for border residents.
