No case disposed off under Amnesty Scheme

JAMMU, Jan 21: Finance Minister today said that not even single case has been disposed off under Amnesty Scheme launched for the defaulters under J&K GST Act, 1962.
Responding to the question of National Conference MLA from Nagrota, Devender Singh Rana in the Legislative Assembly, the Finance Minister said that Government has granted amnesty under J&K General Sales Tax Act, 1962 to the traders, industrialists and transporters vide notification SRO-360, 361 and 362 dated November 13, 2016.
“Dealers have applied for the amnesty under these SROs and the orders for waiver of interest and penalty can be passed after all the installments are paid in full and fulfillment of other conditions and after scrutiny”, the Minister said, adding as on date no case has been disposed off under the Amnesty Scheme.
Expressing inability to furnish the details about amount to be waived off against each dealer, the Finance Minister said, “unless the order for waiver of interest and penalty is passed after receipt of all the installments and fulfillment of conditions as per the scheme the details of amount to be waived off against each dealer cannot be given”.
“As of now, no dealer can be categorized as beneficiary having availed the benefits under the scheme”, the Minister further said.
