Saksham-2017: Bi-cycle rally organized for awareness to conserve petro products

JAMMU, Jan 21: A month long awareness programme “Saksham – 2017”aimed at creating awareness amongst masses towards judicious utilization and conservation of petroleum products,  has been started by Petroleum Conservation & Research Association under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.
As part of the activities entrusted to Oil Marketing Companies, ‘Bi-cycle Day’ is being organized today across the country. The Bi-cycle rally was organized by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited in Jammu with support of other OMCs. The rally, flagged off by chief guest for the occasion, Danesh Rana, IGP, Jammu,  started from HPCL Office / Housing Complex at Gandhinagar and ended at HPCL Petrol Pump M/s Jay Kay Gas, Opposite Asia Hotel, Gandhinagar.
The IGP was accompanied by SP South, Shehzad Salaria and SDPO East, Chandan Kohli and other dignitaries from the OMCs, including Krishan Lal, CRM HPCL, Ajai Singh, SRM HPCL, Brijesh Singh, Mgr (RS), IOC and Rajesh Sharma, TM, BPCL.
The event commenced with a simple ceremony whereby participants were distributed caps and T Shirts with the conservation messages.  Danesh Rana administered the conservation pledge to all the members in the gathering. In his address, he stressed the importance of the theme of the event and its implications on the national future and prosperity.
On the occasion,  Nukkad Nataks on the theme of ‘Conservation of Petroleum Products’ were also organized for the gathering.
The event  concluded with a note of thanks from HPCL to the participants,  including members of the Cyclist Federation of India who braved the chilly weather to come out in large numbers and spread this important message of the need to conserve the planet’s non renewable energy sources.
