Naib Tehsildar, 3 others hurt; cops lathi-charge to quell mob

MENDHAR, June 10: Naib Tehsildar Harni and three others were injured after some villagers resorted to stone pelting on the Niabat-complex, Harni today while police had to lathi-charge to quell the mob, hell bent on violence and rampage.
The trouble started after Nabi Tehsildar Harni, Mohd Sagir Choudhary along with his staff had gone to nearby village on the direction of SDM, Mendhar to settle a dispute with regard to construction of a PMGSY Road from Gursai Nalla to Gursai Morhi. There was dispute between two villagers namely Bashir Ahmed Khan and Liaqat Ahmed Khan as some land of Liaqat was involved. On the behest of Bashir, JCB was at work and other party objected to it.
First Class Magistrate (Naib Tehsildar) when reached there, he summoned both the parties to settle the issue. Some R&B staff members were also there besides Revenue officials. There had been a virtual clash between the two opponents. Tehsildar directed the JCB driver to suspend work till a final decision is taken. As the situation went tense there, the Revenue staff returned immediately to its office at Harni.
After some time, the villagers against the decision in the form of  a mob reached Harni and resorted to stone pelting, rampage  and violence. The Revenue staff and people who had gone to the office for their work ran to safety. A stone hit  Naib Tehsildar on his ankle, resulting into fracture. Three other including a staff member were also injured.  SHO Gursai along with policemen then rushed to the Niabat complex and resorted to lathi-charge on the mob. The attackers then ran away. A case FIR No. 42/2013 was registered against them. However, no arrest could be reported till late this evening.
Naib Tehsildar Mohd Sagir and others were removed to Mendhar hospital. After treatment, the Mr Sagir was then referred to District Hospital, Rajouri. The other injured are identified as Zulfiqar Ahmed, Master Abdul Rehaman of Harmutta and Mehmood Ahmed Khan of Harni. The police was looking for the trouble shooters.
