JAMMU, June 10: A 6-day Training programme on Basic Life Support, organised by the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in collaboration with International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) began today at Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare Institute (RIH&FW), Nagrota.
As many as 25 doctors from various health institutions across the Jammu division are attending the programme.
Mission Director, NRHM J&K, Dr. Yash Pal Sharma apprised that the training programme is a part of various skill development trainings being undertaken under the National Flagship Scheme.
“The participants are imparted training on crucial life saving techniques which are indispensable at the time of emergencies besides international trainers are imparting requisite training to the future trainers, who would further benefit the masses with their skills,” said Dr Yashpal Sharma.
Later, ICRC team presented a short film on the onset of event and also briefed about the ICRC activities in the state through a power point presentation.
ICRC team leader, Simone, and Communication Officer, ICRC Rizwana Rashid, enlightened the participants in international humanitarian laws.
Dr Eric Bernes, trainer from ICRC Geneva took the detailed sessions and imparted skills to the participants.
Earlier, Divisional Nodal Officer, NRHM, J&K, Dr Harjeet Rai assured full support during the sessions.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Principal, RIH&FW, Dr Rana Zahoor Ahmad, State NGO Coordinator, NRHM J&K, Dr BB Sharma, Assistant Trainings, NRHM, J&K Rakesh Sharma, Diganta Bujarabaruah, Assistant Trainer, ICRC and Dr Harpreet, ICRC.
