Mir declares Neeli Nallah as model village for agriculture

UDHAMPUR, May 1: The Minister of Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir today dedicated the Mobile Plant Health Clinic van for district Udhamur under ATMA at Kissan mela held at village Neeli Nallah Jib.
The MLA Udhampur Balwant Singh Mankotia was also present on the occasion. Over 500 farmers including women participated in the Kissan Mela.
Addressing the function Mr Mir said the mobile plant health clinic will act as an early warning system for the detection of diseases and pests for avoiding loss and it will also help in collecting location specific useful information of diagnosis making capacity.
The Minister said the plant health clinic will provide comprehensive free diagnosis and advisory service at the farmers field besides providing on spot quicker diagnosis of crop disorder and remedial measures to farmers.
He further added that such melas are the need of the hour to apprise the farming community regarding the ongoing schemes and level of subsidy available with with the department.
The Minister said a subsidy to the tune of Rs 28.35 lacs has been distributed among the beneficiaries of the district for agriculture machinery under different CSS schemes to make hill agriculture easier.
He said 15.55 quintals of Elephant Garlic seed and 4.20 qtls of local Rajmash seed was distributed among farmers of the district to conserve the local germplasm and to give Philip to its production.
He also declared Neeli nullah as model village for agriculture activities which will serve as role model for all the surrounding villages of the district.
In his address Balwant Singh Mankotia said that rural areas in the district are being primarily agriculture based the farmers should take advantage of the e melas and adopt all the technical know-how imparted by the various departments in their field to uplift their economic status. He also commended the efforts of the Department in implementing various schemes and promoting agriculture in the district.
Director agriculture Ajay Khajuria said that the convergence of all the state holders under the one umbrella will act as a plantation to work out the future course of action for increasing the production and productivity level of farming community and raise the socio -economic status of the farmers.
