UDHAMPUR, Feb 26: Agitated over worst condition of Rathian road, locals held a strong protest at village Rathian against the Public Works Department (R&B) authorities, here today.
The protesting locals were raising slogans against the PWD and District administration for their failure to repair the road for last many years. Speaking on the occasion, they complained that Mahatma Gandhi Marg at Rathian was still awaiting Government attention despite it being in the heart of the city and an important link road to the National Highway passing through Rathian and Phangyal.
Around 1000 souls, including females and students, daily use this road. The villagers said that estimate of this road was prepared by the PWD many time but the funds needed were not sanctioned till date. The residents lament that despite being Rathian falling hardly three kilometers from the District headquarter and the new National Highway passing through it, the area was deprived. They highlighted the issue various times but no action was taken by the concerned authorities.
