JAMMU, Mar 27: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief, GA Mir has said that the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) with the dignity, in an atmosphere of harmony, safety and security is the most challenging and unfinished task, for which one and all those interested in the welfare and restoration of the pristine glory of Kashmiriyat need to play a positive and proactive role.
Addressing a day long executive meet of the PCC migrant cell at PCC HQ here today, Mir said the Kashmir and Kashmiriyat is incomplete without the return and rehabilitation of Kashmir migrants especially the minority community as the age old secular credentials of Kashmir are under question without the return and rehabilitation of KPs to their native land, with dignity in an atmosphere, where they feel adequate sense of safety and security to their lives and property as well as their religious rights.
He said that the exodus of KPs from the Valley is a blot on the secular tradition and religious brotherhood, for which Kashmir and Kashmiriyat is known and their return is unfinished agenda and challange to all political dispensations in the country and State, as well as those who believe in the secular values of the country.
Mir was the chief guest on the occasion which was presided over by the chairman of the PCC Migrant Cell, Hira Lal Pandita. Senior leaders of PCC who attended the meet included vice-presidents— Mula Ram, GN Munga (MLC), Kanta Bhan, Ravinder Sharma, Farooq Andrabi, Vikram Malhotra, Anil Chopra and Abid Kashmiri.
The JKPCC chief said though efforts were made from time to time by the Government of the day for the welfare and return of KPs but creation of congenial atmosphere is not solely possible at the Government and political level alone without active role of civil society.
Extending full support to the genuine issue of the displaced Kashmiri migrants, Mir asked the migrant cell of the party to redouble their efforts to strengthen the bonds at the grass root level to help resolve their problems and win back their confidence in the policies and programmes of the Congress party.
