Karan Singh arrives to participate in 221st birth celebrations of Maharaja Gulab Singh

JAMMU, Oct 19: Dr. Karan Singh, President Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) arrived here today in connection with the celebrations of the 221st birth anniversary of Maharaja Gulab Singh. He was received by the Regional Director of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Balwant Thakur.
The ICCR in association with Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Trust is presenting a mega theatrical show, ‘Gulab Gaatha’ on October, 20 at 5 pm at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. The mega musical theatre presentation is designed and directed by Balwant Thakur and lyrics and music is rendered by Brij Mohan.
Famous Television and Bollywood star, Mohit Raina, who shot to fame world over as Lord Shiva in ‘Devon Ke Dev, Mahadev’ TV series is being honoured on the occasion with Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Award. The Award carries Rupees one Lakh and a citation plaque. For Jammuites, it is going to be a lifetime opportunity to watch a play based on the life and contribution of Maharaja Gulab Singh, the founder of Jammu and Kashmir State. This mega theatrical event is featuring 70 artists and about 15 creative technicians, will unveil the important events of the life of Maharaja Gulab Singh before the audience so that they are enlightened with the great contributions of the creator of this State.
A handout issued here today by ICCR said this is an endeavor to make people aware of the landmark historic events of their own land so that they take pride in their past. In addition to having historic importance and relevance, the production also offers a highly innovative and artistic experience which should not be missed by the Jammu audience.
