JMC cancels building permission of group housing

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Jan 31: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today cancelled the building permission granted for group housing of 262 flats in August, 2013 on account of number of complaints received from different quarters.
The permission issued in favour of Bharat Bhushan Gupta and others at Sidhra was kept in abeyance besides issuing show-cause notice to the defaulter.
The action has been taken due to non-maintenance of side setbacks as per master plan, less availability of parking slots as required under Building Bye-Laws and non- observance of Housing norms for Economically Weaker Section.
JMC appealed to all the general public not to violate the Master Plan and Building Bye-Laws for commercial and residential premises.
JMC further instructed that completion certificate as admissible under Law should also be taken from the Corporation as the Public Health Engineering Department and Power Development Department have been asked not to issue water and electricity connections to the occupants of commercial mall and group housing without the requisite certificate.
The liability of not conforming to the norms shall squarely lay at the risk and cost of the occupants and proprietors of premises.
