JAMMU, Oct 20: Seeking permanent solution of the Kashmir issue, All Jammu Civil Society Forum (AJCSF) has stressed the need to have Regional Autonomous Councils in all the three regions of the State and involve all the stake holders for reaching to a final solution of the problem.
Addressing a press conference here today, chairman of the Forum and former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak (DSS president) said that Jammu and Ladakh regions have been suffering due to turmoil in Kashmir. Economy of the region has been badly shattered. He said the time has come to think on those lines and seek separate regional council for Jammu region.
Referring to his delegation’s recent visit to Delhi Mr Charak said a strong delegation of 20 people of the Forum visited Union capital and met Union Defence Minister Manohar Parikar, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Congress MP Dr Karan Singh. Though, they could not meet Home Minister but a memorandum was submitted to him through his personal staff in Delhi.
Mr Charak suggested that in order to resolve the internal imbalances and get over the various disputes of discrimination, Autonomous Regional Councils for all the three regions of the State should be established. It will help in resolving many issues in the State. He said his Forum would also discuss the issue with Kashmir Civil Society and involve them in restoring peace in the State.
Expressing concern over the continued Pakistan sponsored terror attacks, paralysed life and losses of lives of civilians and security forces, the Forum demanded an all-time lasting solution to the problem within the Indian constitution. The members insisted on a strong befitting reply to Pakistan for its misadventures.
They also highlighted the miseries of the border population who have been forced to evacuate and leaving behind their standing crops and proposed construction of permanent shelters along the NH-1A from Madhopur to Jammu and from Jammu up to Poonch.
Mr Charak explained the necessity of launching a separate Duggar Channel from DD, Jammu and said adequate funds be provided to DD Jammu as compared to Kashmir channel as this channel is getting just less than 10 % of it.
Abdul Majid, YP Gupta, Annil Suri, G A Khawaja, Col V K Sahi, Neeraj Anand, Col (Retd) Karan Singh, S Peter, GDS Charak and others were also present.
