JAMMU, Apr 23: The artists of Cultural Wing of Information Department today organised a cultural programme at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal jail for providing healthy and entertaining environment to the jail inmates by musical items.
On the occasion, Director General of Police, Prisons PL Gupta was the chief guest while Superintendent of Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Dinesh Sharma presided over the function.
Assistant Surgeon Kot Bhalwal Jail Dr Rajinder Kumar, Cultural Officer, Information Department Raman Joshi besides other dignitaries from J&K Police including jail inmates in large numbers enjoyed the two-hour long cultural programme with full joy.
Speaking on the occasion, PL Gupta requested the Information Department to organise such type of similar programme in future also in other jails of the Jammu region.
He said such type of programmes not only provide entertaining atmosphere to the inmates but also provide them some moments of enjoyment and to leave a soothing effect on their minds.
The artists of Information Department who presented a scintillating cultural programme jointly by J&K Armed Police Orchestra in the jail which enthralled the inmates included Vijay Anand, Rakesh Singh Salathia, Vishal Gupta, Kamal Kumar, Bodh Raj, Bunty Kumar, Dr Chanchal Sharma, Zulikha Farid besides Puneet Kumar, Mangal Singh and Vishal Matoo.
During the cultural programme, the renowned artist of J&K Jia Lal Sharma anchored the programme.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Superintendent of Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Dinesh Sharma highlighted the facilities being provided to the jail inmates and also vocational programme in different trades for reformation and rehabilitation of Jail inmates.
In the end, vote of thanks was presented by Assistant Surgeon Kot Bhalwal jail Dr Rajinder Kumar.
