JAMMU, May 13: High Court today issued notice to Secretary Health and Medical Education, Public Service Commission and Principal Government Medical College Jammu with the direction to consider the case of the petitioners for promotion to the post of Assistant Professor by convening meeting of the Review Departmental Promotion Committee before finalizing academic arrangements.
The direction was issued in a petition filed by Dr Gurmeet Singh and others, who were appointed on the post of Lecturers in the discipline of Medicine in Government Medical College, Jammu vide order dated 28.01.2011.
It was submitted that after completion of three years of service, the petitioners have become eligible for consideration to the post of Assistant Professor. “Six posts of Assistant Professors are lying vacant and cases of the petitioners have been recommended to the Screening Committee for promotion vide communication dated 04.04.2016. However, instead of considering the cases of the petitioners for promotion to the post of Assistant Professor on regular basis, the posts of Assistant Professor are sought to be filled up on academic arrangement”, submitted Advocate Abhinav Sharma appearing for the petitioners.
