Govt committed to provide basic amenities at doorsteps: Sham

JAMMU, Aug 6: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today said the Government understands the problems of the people especially living in the border areas and has gone an extra mile to ensure that the people get all basic amenities at their doorsteps.
The Minister was addressing a public grievance redressal camp convened at Suchetgarh to know about the progress on the decisions taken in the last public meeting.
The villagers hailing from Gharani, Badyal Brahmana, Kotli Rahiyan, Flora, Korotana, Bidipur Jattan, Dablehar, Chak Baja and Parlah apprised the Minister about the issues related to power supply, water supply, road connectivity, sanitation and healthcare.
While addressing the gathering, the Minister informed that PDD officers have been instructed to repair the damaged transformers and replace the existing wires with new high quality cables.
He further informed that the officers of Irrigation and Flood Control Department have been directed to personally monitor level of water flow in Ranbir canal, Pratap canal, Ravi-Tawi Irrigation Complex and their distributaries so that the farmers don’t face any difficulty in getting water for irrigation during Kharif season.
The Minister said the Government is launching one scheme after the other for the welfare of the common masses but the need of the hour is that people make use of the public assets responsibly. He further said it is our duty, as a responsible citizen, to take care of public property and consider it as our own.
