JAMMU, Aug 6: A deputation of contractors working in Irrigation Department, Jammu met Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary, at his residence here today and appealed the Minister to release their long pending payments for the works executed.
Submitting a memorandum in this connection, the deputation members apprised the Minister that their payments are not being released by the department for the works executed even three years back. They told the Minister that they have been executing AIBP, SDRF and desilting works of Ranbir Canal for last many years. They informed the Minister that about 20-40% payment was cleared two years ago but thereafter no payment was done and as a result they are facing many problems.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured that very soon their payments will be released.
The deputation was led by Vinod Kohli, general secretary, Contractors’ Association, Jammu Province and Dian Singh, secretary.
