Girl murdered by her fiance

SRINAGAR, May 13: Police said the dead body of a 24 year old missing girl, Rifat Bano, a resident of Gujar Patti Sangri Colony of Baramulla district was recovered  from Mohara Uri today.
A Police spokesman said that the girl was missing since Thursday and the girl’s family had lodged a report of her abduction at Police Station Baramulla.
He said a case with FIR No 79/2108 under Section 366,109 RPC was registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation was taken up.
“During the course of investigation, fiancé of the missing girl namely Sajad Ahmad Bhatt, a resident of Mohra, Uri turned out to be the prime suspect in this case who was apprehended. During questioning he confessed to his crime and led the police team to Mohra, Uri and upon his identification, the dead body of missing girl was recovered,” he said.
The spokesman said that the girl had reportedly gone to meet her fiancé with whom she was formally engaged and initial investigation suggests the motive behind the murder was that the accused was allegedly having affair with some other lady.
“Body of the deceased will be handed over the relatives after completion of medico-legal formalities. Charges of murder section 302 RPC have been added to the case registered in this instant matter and further investigation in the case is going on,” he said.
