Galaxy of stars descend Jammu for Kunwar Viyogi Utsav

JAMMU, Sept 21: Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust is bringing a galaxy of stars like YouTube sensation Siddharth Slathia, Singer Composer Monica Dogra, Dogri Ghazal icons Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Lovely Chandra, celebrated poets Ayushman Jamwal, Lalit Mangotra, Bharatnatyam dancer Shriyasi Gopinath, rock singer Manvi Gupta to Jammu to celebrate its annual Kunwar Viyogi Utsav 2018.
The celebrations will begin from Sep 24, 2018 with scholarship awards in the Dogri Department, University of Jammu. The Trust, in collaboration with Department of Dogri, University of Jammu will award cash prizes, citation and certificates to meritorious students in MA Dogri. Following this, sonnets in Dogri will be recited from Sahitya Akademi award winning writer Kunwar Viyogi’s book Pehliyaan Banga.
A handout stated that paper reading session will also be conducted by renowned Dogri writers N.D Jamwal and Mohan Singh. The event will be presided over by Jammu University Vice Chancellor Prof Manoj K Dhar.
The Trust has also introduced one scholarship in English for Department of English, Jammu University.
Since the Trust has declared 2018 as the Year of Sonnets, it will unveil Kunwar Viyogi’s book of sonnets River Sage during an event to be held at the Department of English on Sep 24 at 12:30 pm.
Along with this, author Ayushman Jamwal will also unveil his latest book of poetry Silent Sun, following which the students will recite sonnets from Kunwar Viyogi’s book River Sage.
A Q&A session with the author will also be conducted. The programme will be attended by Dean Academics Prof Keshav Gupta.
The Trust, in association with Dogri Sanstha Jammu will organise Jashn-e-Viyogi, which will be presided over by Cluster University Vice Chancellor, Anju Bhasin.
A Dogri poetry symposium will also be organised as Bharatnatyam dancer Shriyasi Gopinath will enthrall the audience with her dance performance on Kunwar Viyogi’s Dogri song Kangrel.
Times of India’s renowned cartoonist Uday Shankar will showcase his art work on Sep 25 at the Lotsava Rinchen Bzangpo Art Gallery, Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Jammu University along with works of celebrated artists Rashmi Jamwal and Jyoti Gupta.
Live art workshops will also be conducted at the venue, following which Shakespeare’s play Great Expectations written and directed by Aarushi Thakur Rana will be showcased at Gen. Zorawar Singh Auditorium.
