DC calls ARTO’s explanation, stops salary of absentees

POONCH, July 3: A large number of Government officials were found absent from duty when the Deputy Commissioner Poonch paid surprise visit to several offices here today.
The Deputy Commissioner Nisar Ahmed Wani asked all the district officers and other employees in the district to maintain punctuality in the offices and ensure effective delivery of services to the general public.
The DC during a series of surprise visits to several offices in Poonch including the offices of District Industries Centre and ARTO, SE I&FC and PWD (R&B), has stressed for work culture in Government offices as main priority and warned of strict action against erring employees.
During his surprise visit to ARTO office, the DC found the office opened without any official on duty and noticed presence of non-officials/ agents roaming in different rooms and using office computers.
The DC locked the offices and later taking serious note of the situation instructed ARTO to explain as to why the ousiders were sitting inside his office and in other rooms and working on computers.
In his surprise visit to the District Industries Centre, the Deputy Commissioner found seven officials absent from duty. Taking serious note of their absence, Wani directed for explanation from the absentees including Usman Khan, Senior Assistant, Deepak Kumar and Jyoti Bala both Junior Assistants, Akram Hussain, Mohammad Hussain, Abdul Majeed and Bashir Ahmed all orderlies and has ordered that their salary be stopped.
Later, Wani also inspected the ongoing renovation works of the Poonch Fort and ascertained the status of progress besides directing CEO PDA for ensuring that the quality of work is not compromised.
