CS reviews progress on Srinagar, Jammu Ring Road projects

JAMMU, Dec 18: Chief Secretary, B B Vyas today reviewed the progress of land acquisition proceedings for construction of 4 lane Ring Road around Srinagar and Jammu cities.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Director NHAI, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu and other senior officers attended the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar, Budgam, Baramulla, Pulwama, Bandipora Ganderbal and Samba participated via video conferencing.
Substantial progress was reported in the land acquisition proceedings across all districts with directions from the Chief Secretary that in districts where final award has been issued viz  Jammu, Samba and Pulwama, compensation amount on account of land acquisition be disbursed to land owners by December 25 and land including the State land be handed over to the NHAI immediately.
It was informed that the Srinagar city Ring Road project involves an area of 278 hactares spread over six districts viz Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Pulwama and Srinagar, while as Jammu city Ring Road project involves an area of 342 hactares spread over Jammu & Samba districts.
Chief Secretary directed Deputy Commissioners of Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Srinagar to complete the land acquisition proceedings before December 31.
