JAMMU, Sept 23: Principal Sessions Judge Kathua MA Chowdhary today rejected the bail application of one Sunny Malhotra, son of Des Raj  of Kathua, who was allegedly involved in smuggling of heroin.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “millions of narcotic/drug addicts, all over the world, are leading miserable lives, between life and death. Narcotic/drug abuse has led to a detrimental impact on the society. It has led to increase in the crime rate”.
“With most narcotic/drug users being in the productive age, the loss in terms of human potential is incalculable, causing damage to physical, psychological, moral and intellectual growth. The prevalence of narcotic/drug abuse can be judged from the trends reflected by a survey report released by  the United Nations Office of Drug and Crime (UNODC) and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India”, the court said.
With these observations, court rejected the bail application.
