Chilli, turmeric trade higher on rising demand

NEW DELHI, Apr 23:  Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on domestic and exports enquiries amid a fall in supply.
Firming trend in futures market also supported the uptrend.
Red chilli and turmeric prices rose by Rs 100 each to settle at Rs 7,800-12,300 and Rs 7,700-11,800 per quintal, respectively.
Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists due to rising exports enquiries amid fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up chilli and turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
Following are today’s quotations per quintal:
Ajwain 12,500-18,500, black pepper (per kg) 645-775, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,300-1,330 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,400-1,500.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 630-690, cardamom (colour robin) 640-650, cardamom bold 660-680, cardamom extra (bold) 850-880 and cloves (kg) 900-1,000. (PTI)
