Bodies of 2 flood victims reach Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 16: Bodies of two flood victims including a Government employee reached Jammu from Srinagar today.
As per police sources, bodies of two flood victims, who died in Srinagar due to flash flood were airlifted to Jammu from Srinagar today.
The deceased have been identified as Rajesh Dutta, (a Government employee posted at Ranbir Press Srinagar), son of Inder Nath Dutta, a resident of Nagrota and Manohar Lal (a brick kiln worker), son of Amar Nath, a resident of Pakhia, Kanachack.
The bodies were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu where after conducting postmortem, the bodies were handed over to family members for last rites.
Meanwhile, the aircrafts of Indian Air Force (IAF) Jammu carried out a total of 8 sorties to supply 9.1 tons of relief material to the flood affected areas, PRO (Defence) Jammu, Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta said.
He added that 249 personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) were also airlifted from Jammu to Srinagar.
Mr Mehta further stated that in addition to Mi-17, Chetak and medium lift transport aircraft like AN-32, the heavy lift aircrafts like C-130 are operating both during day and night.
