Bhalla reviews progress of Qasim Nagar community hall

JAMMU, Jan 17: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture, Raman Bhalla has said that Government is making all out efforts to develop Gorkha Nagar, Sheikh Nagar, Pacca Talab, Kacha Talab, Bazigar Basti, Boria Colony, Shahabad and Qasim Nagar of Bahu Fort areas with all basic amenities, adding that new development schemes has been launched to meet the requirement of general masses.
This was stated by the Minister while interacting with the locals after inspecting ongoing construction work of Multipurpose Community Hall at Qasim Nagar, coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 70 lakh, here today.
Mr. Bhalla said that Government has earmarked Rs. 3.5 crore for up gradation of power infrastructure in Bahu Fort and its adjoining areas. He said that focus of the Government was to develop Bahu Fort on modern lines by providing all basic amenities to the people including drinking water, electricity, road connectivity, education, healthcare and surface drains. He said UPA Government headed by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has provided liberal funding in every sector to the State Government so that the all infrastructural facilities to the people of three regions would be provided at their doorsteps.
The Minister said that Government has chalked out a comprehensive strategy for developing the tourism infrastructure in Bagh-e-Bahu, adding that the area was blessed with varied potential, locale and landscape required for bringing it on the tourist map of the country. He said that providing of much needed tourist infrastructure for these areas would be the top agenda of the Government.
On the holistic development of embankments of river Tawi, Mr. Bhalla said that view points, roads and other related infrastructure at Bagh-e-Bahu are being upgraded and renovated with inbuilt latest facilities for the tourists.
The Minister said that Government has sanctioned Rs. 75 lakh for construction of play field near Government Higher Secondary School Bahu Fort so that the people could celebrate their national festivals besides sports activities at their doorstep stadium. He said the project is under progress on war-footing and would be completed within stipulated time frame.
