Ajay Nanda inspects work on roads, bridges in Katra, Pouni

Calls for expeditious completion

REASI: Minister of State for Finance and Planning today visited rural areas of Katra and Pouni to inspect work on roads and bridges besides taking stock of public issues.

The Minister was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar, SDM Katra Neelam Khajuria, SE PWD Udhampur-Reasi M.D. Khawaja, ACD M.Y. Malik, Executive Engineers and other officers of various departments.

The Minister visited Maghal near Catreen hotel and instructed the officers for completing the approach roads towards the Maghal bridge. He asked the forest and rural development departments to extend support in speedy completion of another foot bridge which will benefit big chunk of population of the area.

The Minister inspected ongoing works at Aghar Jitto, Serbar and other areas of Katra Tehsil and instructed the officers to expedite the progress of development works for timely completion.

Later, the Minister toured Pouni tehsil and asked the concerned for proper functioning of the Kundkanyari road. He also inspected work on Dub and Rayale roads and directed for timely and quality completion of these roads.

Slew of instructions were passed to the officers for regular monitoring of the roads during ongoing raining season so that the same are restored in time in case of their closure due to sliding or other damage.

The Minister called upon the officers to pacify the works of all PMGSY roads, blacktopping of existing roads and other developments works in Pouni taken up under CDF, MGNREGA and other schemes so that their benefits percolate down to the local masses in a time bound manner.

The Minister asked the district administration for close monitoring of the situation during raining season and extend possible help to the people in case of any exigency.

During his visit, various public deputations met the Minister and apprised him of their issues and grievances.

The Minister assured the deputationists that their genuine issues would be looked into and redressed in a time bound manner.
