437 kanals of land retrieved

REASI, Feb 6: Tightening its noose on land grabbers in Reasi district, the Revenue authorities in tehsil Thakrakote of Reasi district today retrieved 437 kanals of  Kahcharai (State and common land) form the land grabbers who had illegally occupied it in different villages of the Tehsil from time to time.
As the Revenue authorities came to know that the land belonged to State and it was illegally occupied by the mafia groups in the area, the District Development Commissioner,  Reasi Sushma Chauhan issued directives to Tehsildar Thakrakote, Rajesh Baru to get the land retrieved immediately. Following the directives a team of Revenue officials headed by Tehsildar swung into action and freed the 437 kanals and three marlas of land from the encroachers.
About 33 land encroachers of different villages in violation of 133 of land Revenue Act of 1996 and standing circular and orders of the Government issued from time to time have encroached upon Kahcharai and Common land (Shamlat) measuring 437 kanals and three marlas under various Khasra numbers in different villages of Tehsil Thakrakote.
To ascertain the facts the Tehsildar Thakrakote sought a report from Nabi Tehsildar Thakrakote Khan Mir who after conducting a detailed enquiry and scrutiny of revenue record submitted a  report regarding the encroachments made by land mafia in the different villages of the area to Tehsildar.
The Naib Tehsidar in his report mentioned that Soba Ram, Fateh Singh, Joginder Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Angrez Singh, Surinder Singh, Sudesh Singh Makhan Singh Parkash Singh R/o Sailanjan, Soba Ram, Bhagwan Dass, Onkar Singh, Nanak Chand,  Birdwood R/o Dharan, Mohan Singh, Bashir,  Jan R/o Narkote,  Ikram Hussain,  Krishan Singh R/o Thanole, Mir Hussain,  R/o Panassa, Mohd. Shaffi  R/o Jij, Onkar Singh R /o Kakra Rikhi Ram, Chamail Singh etc. in violation of section 133 of Land Revenue  Act, Svt. 1996 and standing circular instructions/orders from higher authorities from time to time have encroached upon Kahcharai and Common Land Shamlat (Mehfooz Kahcharai and Mufiday Aam ) measuring 437 Kanals 3 Marlas under various Khasra numbers in different villages of Tehsil Thakrakote.
Rajesh Kumar, Tehsildar by invoking Section 133 of Land Revenue Act, Svt. 1996 and on the basis of recommendations made by field staff passed orders to evict all illegal encroachers from Shamlat land after providing opportunities of being heard to all encroachers.
He further instructed the field staff to remain vigilant in their respective areas and report immediately in case of encroachments found if any on State, Kahcharai or Common  lands.
Earlier, Rajesh Baru Tehsildar has retrieved 923 Kanals of State Land from illegal possession of encroachers with the help of District Police Reasi.
In last seven months, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Reasi Sushma Chauhan, Tehsildar Thakrakote has removed encroachments on 1360 kanals 3 marlas of State Kahcharai and Common Land. The local people have extended full support to Revenue authorities in their move.
